According to sources related to the family, Palash is a Trinamool worker who was active in college politics, having served as the General Secretary (GS) of Serampore College. Later, he was involved in youth politics alongside Shantanu Banerjee. He reportedly maintained a close relationship with Sumit Roy, the personal assistant to Abhishek Banerjee. However, his parents remain unaware of the reason for his detention.
It is being said that around 11 p.m. on Thursday, five police officers in plain clothes arrived and took Palash away from the roof of the house. The family claims they were not informed whether the officers belonged to the local police station or the CID.
Palash’s father, Pradip Chakraborty, said, “They came at night and asked us to open the door. We asked them to come in the morning, but they threatened to break the door down, so we opened it. They took my son from the roof. They didn’t say where or why they were taking him; they only left a phone number.”
A neighbour added, “I know Palash as a good boy. I don’t know exactly what he does for a living, but I’ve never seen him getting involved in any trouble. His family is also decent. If he has done something wrong, he should be punished; otherwise, he will be released.”
